While they didn’t sail up the Ashley River, the Navy arrived in Summerville from Annapolis resplendent in summer dress uniform to witness and celebrate the marriage of Ensigns Sophie Shelbourne and Dylan Black. And, do they know how to celebrate?!
After passing through the “Sword Arch” upon leaving the church, Mr. and Mrs. Black received family and friends at a reception in the beautiful, subtropical, Linwood gardens. Sophie grew up playing in the gardens, the home of her grandparents.
Note: The “Arch of Swords”, originally an old English and American but now a worldwide tradition shows a symbolic pledge of loyalty to the newly married couple from their Military family. Many brides are worried that the equally symbolic spank by the final swordsman doesn’t tear her dress!
Loving Life at Linwood!
